Dress code
South Africa is very fashionable. As a tourist you should dress casual, jeans, knee skirts, fancy sandals; if you intend on going to a club, you should dress hip as the youth are pretty fashion concious. In clubs, men are required shirt (can be casual) and keep in mind that no running shoes are allowed.
As South Africans are pretty conservative, try "less is more" and especially do not wear expensive jewelry and watches when travelling with no recognized tour guide.
On the beach, most women wear one or two piece bathing suits; it is allowed to ditch the top. |
