Crime and banditry
It would be wise to ensure safe travel or to avoid border regions with Ethiopia, Sudan and Somalia because of the banditry and violent tribal and clan disputes. Kenya’s border with Somalia was closed on 3 January 2007 due to increased instability in Somalia.
Serious crime occurs frequently in and around Nairobi. You should avoid potentially dangerous situations, walking alone at night and travelling outside of Nairobi after dark.
Floods
Seasonal flooding is common in Kenya, especially in areas bordering Uganda. You should seek local advice on road conditions and transportation if you want to visit these regions. |
