Ruling over the Jutland peninsula and some 400 small islands in the Baltic Sea, the Kingdom of Denmark is blessed with beautiful beaches, crystal lakes, cool, shady forests and crammed with old, little villages. Tranquility and liberalism is what defines Denmark, a country with high life standards and progressive, tolerant people.

The best way to meet the locals – who, by the way, speak excellent English - is going in one of the many pubs or clubs opened ‘till dawn. You can pledge a mug with pilsner beer or toss down the other national drink of Scandinavia, Akvavit, whether you believe in its medicinal properties or just want to enjoy good schnapps.

If you don’t feel like chasing prince Hamlet’s ghost in the Castle of Ellsinore, you can always check out the famous amusement park of Tivoli Garden, with its air acrobatics and wooden roller coaster, or spend a wild time in Roskilde, in between the Viking Ship museum and Europe’s largest music festival.
